Focus

"...we began seeing one another..." he said, and I thought of people going about their daily routine, exchanging a brief smile with a shop assistant, half noticing passers-by in the street, glancing at work colleagues on the way to their desks, all in a blur of humanity. And then one day something shifts, eye contact is made, and someone comes into clearer focus.

A lovely piece. I like the way things that arrive in the post can offer layers of meaning that the sender would be clueless too.
