Alison - this is so good. I wonder, however, if the word "disturbing" possesses too heavy an imprint of the author. might "shuffling" or "rustling" work?
I personally like disturbing because of it's double meaning - is the wind disturbing the divorce papers, or are the divorce papers doing the disturbing? Just my two cents.:)

You may have a point there, thanks. But 'shuffling' or 'rustling' seem too light somehow. I'll have a think about it.

Thanks! I liked the pivot/double meaning too, but it might be too 'telling' for some tastes.
